Move It Monday – Grounding Yoga Vinyasa Flow

Hey guys! I hope you are having a fantastic Monday!

Have any of you ever heard of “earthing” or “grounding”? This term is somewhat new to me as I first learned about it approximately a year ago and have since then slowly started reading up on the topic. An article here, an article there is how my knowledge grew until recently I started listening to the book Earthing: The Most Important Discovery Ever! by Clinton Ober, Stephen Sinatra and Martin Zucker. All that being said, the more I learn, the more fascinated I become with the practice of grounding. Let me give you guys a quick summary of what earthing is:

Earthing or grounding is as simple as walking barefoot. Apparently the earth has an abundant amount of negatively charged electrons. When we make contact with the earth, we gain some of those electrons which then act as scavengers in our bodies for harmful free radicals. Many benefits have been reported from allergy elimination to inflammation reduction.

The above is just the tip of the iceberg as there is a wealth of information out there. If you are at all interested I would recommend a google search or getting your hands on an earthing book.

One of the reasons I am personally interested in earthing is the claim that it can reduce inflammation. As I mention in today’s video, I have unexplained knee pain underneath my kneecaps. I am 27 years old and live what I’d consider a pretty healthy life. If it is possible to reduce inflammation and therefore pain by reconnecting with the earth, I sure am going to give it a try! Hence the reason that I did today’s yoga routine barefoot in the grass. What better way to reconnect with the earth than to do yoga right atop the surface?! 🙂
