Work It Wednesday – 10 Minute Yoga Blast Workout

Happy Wednesday Friends!

How are you all? Things are going well over here. As part of my yoga teacher certification training, I am supposed to practice yoga a minimum of 4 times a week and am encouraged to do so in the studio. In addition to filming Strive Here yoga routines at home, I am LOVING taking classes at the studio. It is really interesting to see how each teacher has their own style. I am learning so much! Last Tuesday, I mentioned to you guys that I am participating in my own 21 Day Yoga Challenge. I began on October 3rd so today is my 12th day. The challenge is going well. While I originally intended to practice yoga for at least 1 hour each day, I did not stick to that plan when the second weekend rolled around. I got caught up in everyday life and before I knew it, it was bedtime and I had not done more than 5 minutes of yoga (<--A girl in my teacher training class taught me how to do a headstand so I randomly practiced headstands throughout the day). My first reaction was that I had ruined my challenge. After thinking about it, I concluded that I was happy with my practice and that it is okay to do shorter bits of yoga here and there. So that being said, I am still moving along but with new expectations. My goal is to strive for 30 minutes to 1 hour of yoga each weekday and shorter bouts on the weekend. Day 21 here I come! Did any of you guys decide to take the 21 Day Challenge? If so, how is it going for you? Today's video is a brief 10 minute yoga workout. Flowing, jumping, flipping and twisting; you won't hold one pose for very long. Heart pumping, muscle toning, strength building, heat activating, fun having (<--is that a saying?) in a mere 10 minutes. What more could you ask for?! πŸ˜‰ I hope you enjoy the video! Kylie xoxo

Kylie I am so thankful for this gem of a workout. I did a happy dance when I saw it. I am trying to do yoga everyday and was wondering how I could fit some cardio in on days that I don’t have a lot of time to work out. This is a great add on for cardio – I just love it! I am really happy that I can do all of these moves, I have a small workout space. Sometimes I have a love/hate relationship with cardio, I love that this is cardio in “disguise” lol. I just want to double check to make sure that it is ok to do yoga everyday (of course unless you are really sore) there are just so many opinions out there. Thanks a bunch! πŸ™‚

    • Hi Colleen! You are just the sweetest for commenting! Lol, happy dances are the best!!! I am thrilled to hear that this routine is what you were looking for and could even be called “cardio in disguise!” Love that name! I too find that I have a love/hate relationship with cardio. I love the way it makes me feel but have a hard time initiating a cardio workout and sometimes don’t exactly enjoy myself. Way to go for being able to do all of the included moves! It is definitely okay to do yoga every day as long as you are feeling up to it. I would recommend listening to your body and if your body is up for yoga each day, then go for it! If on the other hand you aren’t feeling up to doing yoga don’t feel bad about taking a rest day. If you really don’t want to break your streak, you can try doing some lighter and more restful yoga poses such as child’s pose, pigeon, forward bend, etc. Keep up your awesome yoginess! πŸ™‚
